Every thing was created with a purpose.
Have they not reflected upon their own being? Allah only created the heavens and the earth and everything in between for a purpose and an appointed term. (Q30:8)
Assalamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakhatuhu.
In the name of Allah the All knowing the all wise I start ;
A few days ago, while I was outdoors, the sun was so hot, I felt like I was literally being roasted by it and the fact that the sun is about 150.53 million km away yet it was so hot, subhanaLlah.
Anyway, I couldn’t help imagining a world without the sun. I do that sometimes. When I dislike something (eg flies) i try to imagine what the world would be like without it (i don’t dislike the sun btw, it was mostly out of curiosity that the thought came to me).
Well a world without the sun would be catastrophic because without the sun (which has many more importance), the plants wouldn’t be able to photosynthesize and produce oxygen which is vital for our survival on earth. And without plants we wouldn’t be able to survive either and equally they wouldn’t survive with out us because with out the carbon dioxide we exhale they wouldn’t be able to photosynthesize. And subhanaLlah when you think of it that way you realise that:
A lot of things earth are interdependent.
Every thing on earth serves a purpose.
A few examples of (1);
• When a cow feeds on grass it leaves its faeces (cow dung) which serves as a manure and fertilises the land.
• Flowering plants rely heavily on insects and other animals for pollination. While the plant-pollinator receives nectar or fruit from the plant, it also collects and transfers pollen in the process.
• Clownfish and sea anemones have a mutualistic relationship in which each party provides valuable services for the other. Sea anemones are attached to rocks in their aquatic habitats and catch prey by stunning them with their poisonous tentacles. Clownfish are immune to the anemone's poison and actually live within its tentacles. Clownfish clean the anemone's tentacles keeping them free from parasites. They also act as bait by luring fish and other prey within striking distance of the anemone. The sea anemone provides protection for the clownfish, as potential predators stay away from its stinging tentacles.
• Bacteria live in the intestines and on the body of humans and other mammals. The bacteria receive nutrients and housing, while their hosts receive digestive benefits and protection against pathogenic microbes. These bacteria aid in the digestion of organic compounds that otherwise would not be digested. They also produce vitamins and hormone-like compounds. In addition to digestion, these bacteria are important to the development of a healthy immune system. The bacteria benefit from the partnership by having access to nutrients and a safe place to grow.1
Every single thing on this planet has a purpose from the sun to even the tiniest insects.
Yes including flies.
Flies are more than just a nuisance. These buzzing insects also play important roles in nature, including pollinating plants, breaking down organic material, and serving as food for other bugs and animals. If flies went extinct the planet would fill up with excrement and rotting flesh. This is because they are decomposers. Their larvae are cleaning up after us and the adults are pollinating for us.2
And ants?
Ants scavenge on tiny organisms and prey on insects larger than them – this behavior helps create an ecological balance. If ants went extinct, the food chain would collapse, and it would affect every organism. The ant is a very valuable insect. Ants are diggers, they turn over the soil, aerate the soil with their tunnels, tunnels that allow water to soak into the soil easier. Ants also help disperse seeds of many native plants. The ants collect the seeds and return to the nest.3
And cockroaches?
A lack of cockroaches would seriously mess with something called the nitrogen cycle. Here’s it is in a nutshell: cockroaches eat decaying matter, trapping nitrogen in their poop, which is then released into the soil when they go number 2. Without that nitrogen-rich poop feeding our environment, we’d be in serious trouble. Think of no plants, crops, food…So, what can we take away from this? We humans really really need cockroach poop to survive. — how humbling lol.4
Clouds
Clouds are very important and help make the Earth habitable. Clouds can cool the planet by absorbing the sun's rays radiating it to space, & warming the planet especially on cold cloudy nights.
Thunderstorms
even though thunderstorms are dangerous, they can be a great help. They give summer water, cool the earth, and clean the air. Lightning balances the earth's electricity and helps fertilize the soil. And after a thunderstorm, sometimes there is a rainbow.5
If there’s any animal you think has no purpose or importance on this earth then you can simply google what would happen if they went extinct? (It’s actually a fun and educative exercise.) And you’ll realise that everything is there for a reason. Though some animals are more important than others they’re still important. And we wouldn’t know how important some animals are until they actually become extinct.
when honestly addressing the question of what happens if any species on the Earth went extinct, we simply do not know. Yes, there are some consequences that can reasonably be speculated– good and bad. However, if a species of animals on the planet were eliminated there would be both unexpected and unintended consequences.
JazhaLlahu khair, I hope atleast one person learns something new from this.
Assalamu alaykum👋.
